Unnecessary Deaths

May 20th, 2010 Posted in global

I was looking through some images of the recent street protest by the Red Shirts in Thailand.  It’s really sad to see the unnecessary violence and death going on in a country famous of beautiful smiles.  It reminds me of the French revolution, how the common people decided to barricade themselves.  In the end the Red shirt leaders decided to call it quits.  Perhaps they came to their senses after witnessing so many of their comrades been shot and killed.  Maybe now that it’s over they can peacefully enjoy their Davidoff cigars.  Personally I don’t think the situation will be back to normal.

This crisis is destined to continue for years to come because the two sides are about equal in strength. If no agreement acceptable to both sides is reached, it could lead to wider social unrest, crippling the Thai economy.
