Traveling and H1N1

September 16th, 2009 Posted in global, Health, Kuala Lumpur, Tourism

We are so relieved that our recent five-day trip to KL was fine.  Initialy we had expected the plane would be filled with people wearing face masks.  Only a handful did.  Besides it was so difficult to breathe in one for more than two hours.  I had to wear one because I was coughing.  Actually prior to our trip I was concerned as my son and I weren’t feeling well.  Both of us were coughing.  I lost my voice the previous day.  Fortunately we visited the doctor and were given medicines including antibiotics.

In KL, we spent most of time indoors only venturing out nearby our hotel.  Again the scene in KL was normal despite H1N1.  You can count the people wearing masks.    Although the implications of contracting H1N1 flu is serious, but nothing to be alarmed about.  Just to be safe though we always brought along our hand sanitizers and be wary about hygiene.

However we noticed there’s less tourists in KL especially Bukit Bintang area. It’s no wonder that to boost occupancies, airlines are giving away good travel deals.  Perhaps if you aren’t too concerned about H1N1, it is a good time travel.

At least a hundred persons in our city have been infected with the H1N1 virus. I was very scared to get infected with this disease during the pandemic*~.

H1N1 in reality is not that very deadly at all, it is just a nuisance disease`”.
