The Outer Banks….

This post is nothing to do with financial banks.  The Outer Banks is a stretch of marine coast on the eastern seaboard of the US. It reminds me of the movie The Perfect Storm starring George Clooney regarding a group of fishermen trying to make a living off the coast of Massachusetts.  The group decided to do some fishing beyond the Outer Banks where they were trapped in one of the worst storms ever seen.  The Outer Banks and beyond are one of the most treacherous ocean on earth that the dubbed it The Graveyard of the Atlantic.  However the Outer Banks also is also perfect for the vacationers.  People who go for Outer Banks vacations include the powerful the the rich and when they come to the Outer Banks, their main destination would be Martha’s Vineyard.

Now what would be our equivalent to the Outer Banks?  Recently I brought my family up north to the Tip of Borneo.  Coincidentally the area around the tip has been dubbed the Kudat Riviera.  A short distance from the tip on still gravelled (?) road, one can’t miss the entrances to private sea front villas with security and the sign boards – “Dilarang Masuk”.  It has been rumored that even Jackie Chan has bought a property there, I’m not sure though but it wouldn’t surprise me.  These properties are so exclusively private.
