The night the sky lit up….again

Last year I shared some shots I took of the sky at midnite on the eve of Chinese New Year. This year I anticipated it to be as spectacular if not better so I decided that I needed to get a better vantage point than last year’s. Also this year, I’ve brought along my family and little brother as well as another fellow photography enthusiast. The vantage point that I chose was along the Kepayan Ridge right at Kampung Kopungit. We chose a spot that has a clear view of the Luyang, Kepayan and Penampang areas.
Minutes before midnite, we had second thoughts whether our location was good. To change location would be time consuming so we decided to stay put. We did not regret our decision to stay put because a minute before midnite till about 10 minutes after, we were treated to an awesome display of fireworks. At the stroke of midnite, it was like the whole sky literally lit up. You could see fireworks in the distance and closer to you.
