Japan Heroes - Preamble
February 23rd, 2008 Posted in Japan HeroesBen’s post on his son’s fascination with Ultraman has inspired me to establish a short study of Japanese heroes that we have adored when we were young. Heroes like Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Space Sheriff Gavan (Space Cop Gaban), Captain Future and many more… On a personal level among the heroes, Ultraman probably has created the most impact when I was a kid.
Probably it was due to a lack of local content during the 80’s, there were a lot of other hero-type tv series from Japan.
I am curious to know how the Japanese got their inspiration to come up with all these hero characters. I hope to find out more on these as well as looking at the heroes; the plots; the special equipments; and of course villains.
This last one just freaks me out - weird grasshopper looking hero. I just don’t get it…
