First time at the horse race
March 14th, 2010 Posted in Culture, General, Photography, Sabah, Sports, TourismLate last month a fellow photography enthusiast and myself decided to visit the Tambalang race course, home of the Royal Sabah Turf Club (RSTC). The RSTC used to have its races held at the Tanjung Aru site, but moved to Tambalang Tuaran late last year. Actually the Tambalang course was built back in the 80′s during the Berjaya government time but ended in disuse probably due to local objection or non-strategic location. Now there is a highway going through that area and probably local sentiments coupled with political encouragement, Tambalang is now the new home of the RSTC.
I have never seen a horse race in real life and always wondered how it would be like. It was a hot and dry day when we went there. One thing I noticed was how small the horses were. I think ponies would be an accurate description. Equally small were the jockeys. Since it’s their livelihood I believe they need to be aware of their weight as well. Perhaps it would be good to get to do some phentermine review. We tried our best to go as close as possible to the course but we were cautioned not to do so for fear of spooking the horses. So in the end we had to make do with the location we were. To get another vantage point we decided to go to one of the corners for a tight shot. We got permission from one of the marshall but was again reminded not to go too close to the inner fences.
