For the past few weeks leading to this weekend we have witnessed a number of major natural disasters.  The most significant ones were the tropical storms and earthquakes that occured coincidentally within a span of a few days of each other.  Although it’s calm at the moment, there aftermaths of each occurences are still being felt.  Tropical storm Ketsana really dealt a big blow to the people of the Phillippines and parts of Indo-China.  Looking at the pictures from Boston.com’s Big Picture, you can really feel how helpless we all are when it comes to major disasters.  If that’s not enough, tropical storm Parma has been reported to have affected the same locality as will be tropical storm Melor, perhaps in the next few days.

Then there’s the earthquakes both in the Pacific and the island of Sumatra.  The earthquake in the South Pacific has affected the Samoan islands with a tsunami almost reminiscent of the huge tsunami that happened after Christmas 2004 in the Indian Sea.  Another quake occured right after at Padang, Sumatra last Wednesday that may have killed about 3000 people.

Before that we have heard of dust storms in eastern Australia and flooding in the eastern parts of  US.  Perhaps those having mobile homes there might want to get a motorhome insurance.

All these disaster made me think of the coming apocalyptic movie 2012.  Are these signs of the end?
