Best Teh Halia Ever
June 1st, 2009 Posted in Culture, Food, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, TourismThe best Teh Halia (Ginger Tea) can be found near Taman Tasik Titiwangsa. The roadside stall has been operated by one P.Subramaniam for almost 20 years now. It is truly the best Teh Halia I’ve ever tasted. How did I end up at his stall? Well, coincidentally my had a reunion with her old classmates that day. Mr Ganeson, one of my wife’s classmate, and his wife brought us to a popular stall which specializes in ginger tea. The tea is so concentrated that one really sweat after consuming. Other than clearing the sweat pores, I bet it really helps to remove blackheads and prevents acne.
According to the owner, he uses 12kg of fresh local ginger which he pounded to pulp and kept in constantly boiling water. Other than tea, you can also sample their nasi lemak. One interesting observation was the stall is frequented by people from all the major races in West Malaysia. Truly a great example of 1Malaysia at work.
