Beauty above, Danger beneath.
November 18th, 2009 Posted in environmentOne of the most beautiful places on on earth is Hawaii. Hawaii actually consists of eight main islands namely - Hawaii, Maui, Kaho’olawe, Lana’i, Moloka’i, O’ahu, Kaua’i and Ni’ihau. However, one should not mistake the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands for lurking beneath those island is one of the world’s most active geological hotspots. The island of Hawaii hosts the most active volcanoe in the archipelago, Kilauea which has been actively erupting since 1983. Kilauea is part of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
Recently I watched 2012 the movie, in which the islands of Hawaii were totaly devastated by volcanic eruption. The protagonists were in an Antonov plane had planned to land in Hawaii to refuel but found out that the island was covered in lava flows. Anyways, I hope to visit Hawaii one of these days but not in the condition portrayed like 2o12.
