A nice getaway - Kiram’s village
July 9th, 2010 Posted in Inspiration, Nature, Photography, Sabah, environmentI have heard of this place from my sister some time back. Also I’ve gone to the website to check it out. During the harvest festival holidays we stopped by this place to check if there was any vacancy. Unfortunately it was fully occupied. The place reminds me of the Hobbit’s shire in Tolkien’s Lords of the Ring. Anyways, about three weeks later we managed to get one vacants semi-detached chalet room. It was nice of the owner - Mr. Jamalul Kiram to sms me of the vacancy because early in the week, he said all the chalets were fully booked. We really needed a break from work, I for one needed to get some rest after sitting for a midterm exam and also last minute assignments.
The village is located high above the Kundasang Plateau towards Mesilau already. It’s just at side of the road before the Kundasang golf course checkpoint. Since it’s quite high, one can expect that it’s cool. It’s certainly is cold from early evening onwards. The air is so fresh and the atmosphere so calm and quite. I think it’s a perfect place to relax. You may not need to apply any prototype 37c cream there. It’s also a good place for photographers cos’ there lot’s of things to capture expecially shots of the mountain. I took advantage of this by waking up early in the morning the next day to capture one of my favourite scenery - Mt. Kinabalu.
